Highway Laborer/Equipment Operator I
Required to operate light motorized and hydraulic equipment and to participate in snow removal and sanding work as assigned. Skilled operation of front-end loader and other equipment or vehicles; performs skilled manual work in the construction, maintenance and repair of roads, streets and sidewalks. Applicants with skills and experience to perform maintenance/repairs on trucks and equipment, welding, and the use of other garage tools will be favorably considered; all other work that is logical to the position as required.
High School or trade school diploma or equivalency and three to five years of experience required, or a combination of education and experience that enables performance of all aspects of the position. Must possess valid Massachusetts Class B Operator’s License (CDL) with Air Brake Certification. Must have or be able to obtain Massachusetts 2B and 4G Hoisters License and OSHA 10 certification within three (3) months.
Position is regularly scheduled, Monday-Friday, 6 am-2 pm with summer hours (M-Th, 6 am-4 pm) during Daylight Saving Time. Overtime provided for occasional weekend and evening hours as required. Excellent retirement, employer-funded health (75%), dental and basic life insurance benefits and paid time off, including all MA State holidays, are offered. Base compensation range is $25.69-$30.55 per hour (plus overtime rates when applicable), starting pay DOQ. A complete job description is available at www.colrain-ma.gov.

Seasonal Snow Plow Drivers
The Town of Colrain has immediate openings for On Call Snow Plow Drivers, with and without a Commercial Drivers License, for the 2024-2025 season. Pay rate starts at $26.50/hour. No need to own a plow vehicle, the Town will provide one. Volunteer for a Board or Committee
The Town of Colrain seeks interested residents to become involved as volunteer members of Town Boards, Committees or Commissions. Volunteers are and always have been an integral part of Colrain Town Government. It is volunteers, elected or appointed, who serve on committees that give of their time and talents and make contributions that shape the future of the Town.
